Osmosis is type of facilitated diffusion, the important thing to remember about osmosis is that it's the only type of diffusion that involves water. In Osmosis, solvent molecules that have gone through a semi-permeable membrane into a region of higher concentration. If the cells inside a snow leopard were to be taken under water they would become a hypotonic solution, water would move into the the cell due to osmosis and the cell would either swell up or burst. But, if the cell were to be in a more concentrated area then the water would leave causing the cell to shrink (Hypertonic solution). All of this depends on the concentration inside the cell as well. Without Osmosis organisms wouldn't be able to get rid of waste or take in nutrients. It would eventually cause death because of the collapsing the organelles inside.
Diffusion is the intermingling of substances by the natural movement of their particles, they molecules just basically go with the flow. Diffusion helps regulate what goes in and what comes out of the cell, taking in the good things necessary for the organelles inside like oxygen and protein. While also removing waste products like urea formed by amino acids that can be deadly to cell, by hindering the performance inside the cell. Which could causing death to the snow leopard when the performance falls behind.
