Reflection:
When I first started this project I thought it was going to be something that wouldn't be too hard for me to accomplish, something that was easy. But as I we got more and more in depth with this project I realized I was kind of right in a sense that this would something that wasn't too hard but at the same time I wasn’t. The most difficult part for me during this whole project was reproduction part. When I first came across it I was panicking because I couldn’t find anything online about snow leopards or their reproductive habits or anything about their genes either. I was getting so frustrated because its not like I chose a common animal or anything and I couldn’t find a single thing about the topic that was needed. Then I looked at the syllabus and I was so relived. That was the only hard part of the whole project for me. I enjoyed doing this project so much, it was so informative and I learned so much about an animal that I just randomly picked since my first choice was already taken ( it was a panda by the way). I liked researching up the subject we were supposed to and learning how it affects my animal and/or its environment. I even learned new facts that I would of never guessed could be true for example snow leopards cannot roar they make like a purring noise instead and they mark their territory so other snow leopards cross into it. Also, that snow leopards aren’t in packs they prefer to hunt and be alone unless its mating season but even there’s still only two of them together. I liked doing the drawings for the habitats, life cycle, etc. even though i’m a horrible drawer.
The section that was the most challenging for me to complete was organism interaction, symbiotic relationships for my organism. Finding the information wasn’t the problem finding correct information and things that were not being repeated was the hard part. I kept getting the same things over and over again no matter what I typed into the search bar. Finding an example of commensalism was the hardest thing for me to do. That’s what took a toll on how fast I could of completed that part of the project, making me spend unnecessary time on something that I never found anyway. The part of the project enjoyed doing the most was part 4 finding out about the organisms adaptions to their environment. I enjoyed reading about how the snow leopard has thick fur to help them stay warm in the harsh climate of the Himalayas or how they also have large paws to help them walk on the snow covered ground. I learned a lot different things from an animal I will probably never encounter in my life. Or how slightly different the snow leopard is from its other related organisms. How from just simply being in a different environment to organisms so closely related can completely venture off from each. Like a snow leopard and a regular leopard because of their environment they became adapted to different circumstances. I really enjoyed doing this project and it was a great learning experience.
